Ariarne Titmus Wins Second Consecutive Olympic 400m Freestyle Gold Medal

Australian swimming champion Ariarne Titmus has won her second consecutive Olympic 400m freestyle gold medal on Sunday, raising her level once again to cement herself as one of the greatest swimmers of all time.

Titmus, who was born in Launceston, Tasmania and honed her skills in Queensland, has had an illustrious career. She came to prominence at the 2019 World Championships, where she won gold in the 400m freestyle and 800m freestyle, and silver in the 200m freestyle.

At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Titmus won gold in the 400m freestyle and 200m freestyle, and silver in the 800m freestyle. She also won gold in the 4x200m freestyle relay, and silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay.

Titmus's win in the 400m freestyle on Sunday was a dominant performance. She led from start to finish, and finished more than a second ahead of the silver medalist, American Katie Ledecky. Ledecky, who is one of the greatest swimmers of all time, had won the 400m freestyle at the previous two Olympics. However, Titmus is now the undisputed queen of the event.

Titmus, 21, is showing no signs of slowing down. She is set to compete in the 200m freestyle, 800m freestyle, and 4x200m freestyle relay later this week. She is expected to be a strong medal contender in all three events.
