Berhalter brought Reyna off the bench to play in the second half
The United States Men's National Team (USMNT) was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup on Saturday, losing 3-1 to the Netherlands in the Round of 16. The USMNT went into halftime down 2-0, with Memphis Depay scoring in the 10th minute and Daley Blind scoring in the 45+1 minute. Haji Wright scored for the USMNT in the 76th minute, but Denzel Dumfries sealed the victory for the Netherlands with a goal in the 81st minute.
USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter made several changes to the lineup for the match, including starting Gio Reyna in place of Jesus Ferreira. Reyna had been limited to just 15 minutes of playing time in the tournament due to a hamstring injury.
The USMNT's elimination from the World Cup marks the end of Berhalter's tenure as coach. Berhalter's contract with the US Soccer Federation expired at the end of the tournament, and he has not yet announced whether he will seek a new contract.
