Austin Dillon's Richmond Win Won't Count Toward NASCAR Playoff Eligibility

Brad Keselowski Involved in Post-Race Incident

Austin Dillon's victory at Richmond Raceway on Saturday night will not count towards his NASCAR playoff eligibility, as the race was ended early due to rain and did not meet the minimum distance requirement.

According to NASCAR rules, a race must be completed to a minimum of 100 miles (160.9 kilometers) to be considered official. The Richmond race was stopped with just 226 of the scheduled 400 laps completed due to heavy rain.

The early end to the race also meant that Brad Keselowski, who was involved in a post-race incident with Dillon, will not be penalized for his actions.

Keselowski and Dillon in Post-Race Altercation

After the race, Keselowski confronted Dillon on pit road, with the two drivers exchanging heated words.

Video footage showed Keselowski shoving Dillon, who retaliated by pushing Keselowski back.

NASCAR officials are reviewing the incident and could potentially issue penalties to both drivers.

NASCAR Playoff Implications

Dillon's win would have been his first of the season and would have locked him into the NASCAR playoffs.

With the win being nullified, Dillon will need to win one of the remaining two regular-season races or earn enough points to qualify for the playoffs.

Keselowski, who is already locked into the playoffs, will not be affected by the incident.
