Kathryn Elizabeth "Katie" Moon, née Nageotte, was born on June 13, 1991. She is an American pole vaulter who has achieved remarkable success throughout her career. Moon began pole vaulting as a young girl and quickly rose through the ranks, competing at national and international levels.

Olympic Triumph

In 2020, Moon reached the pinnacle of her career by winning a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. With an impressive vault of 4.90 meters, she became the first American woman to win the Olympic title in pole vaulting since 2004. This victory cemented her legacy as one of the greatest pole vaulters in the world.

Personal Life and Accomplishments

Beyond her Olympic triumph, Moon is known for her determination and perseverance. She holds numerous accolades, including being a two-time national indoor pole vault champion in 2018 and 2019. Moon studied at Ashland University, where she was a standout athlete. She is the daughter of Mark and Diane Nageotte and has two siblings, Andy and Emily.
