Personal Life of Robert Bourgi
Robert Bourgi was born on November 10, 1932, in Dakar, Senegal. He is the son of Lebanese immigrants who settled in Dakar. Bourgi grew up in a wealthy family and attended the best schools in Senegal. He studied law and economics at the University of Paris and then worked as a lawyer in Dakar. In 1961, he married Marie-Christine Camard, the daughter of a French diplomat. They have three children.
Bourgi is a close friend of many French politicians, including former President Nicolas Sarkozy and former Prime Minister Alain Juppé. He is also a close friend of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
Political Career of Robert Bourgi
Bourgi has been involved in politics since the early 1960s. He was a member of the Senegalese Socialist Party and served as a government minister in the 1970s. In the 1980s, he became a close advisor to President Abdoulaye Wade. Bourgi played a key role in Wade's election victory in 2000. He also served as Wade's foreign minister from 2002 to 2004.
In 2005, Bourgi was accused of corruption by the French authorities. He was charged with embezzling millions of euros from the sale of weapons to Angola. Bourgi denied the charges and was never convicted. However, the scandal damaged his reputation and led to his resignation as foreign minister.

In his later years, Bourgi lived in Paris and continued to be involved in politics. He was a close advisor to President Sarkozy and played a key role in Sarkozy's election victory in 2007. Bourgi died in Paris on February 27, 2016, at the age of 83.
